Benday Dots

Students were introduced to the art of Roy Lichtenstein. The classes talked about Lichtenstein’s benday dots and how they created visual texture. Lichtenstein’s style of using primary and secondary colors was also discussed. Using paper, pencils and markers, students created their own Lichtenstein flower.

Self-Portraits

We began this lesson by learning the difference between self-portraits and portraits.  We looked at several examples and talked about the different shapes that make up our face.  We also looked in a mirror to see what we look like and then we began drawing.   We focused hard on filling the whole page and drawing the exact shapes that we see on our face.
Great Job Kindergarteners!!!

Little Green

Little Green by Keith Baker is a book that we read in kindergarten.  In this book, a little green hummingbird flies around making different shapes and lines in the sky.  Some of the lines Little Green flew were zigzags, loopty-loops, wavy and straight lines.  We drew these lines first and then colored each area a new color.  We practiced coloring one way and staying in the lines.
